PT Taspen's First Corruption Trial Held Today, Former Director Of Kosasih Becomes Defendant

JAKARTA - The Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court will hold the first trial of the alleged fictitious investment case at PT Taspen, today. Of the two defendants, one of them was former President Director of PT Taspen (Persero), Antonius Nicholas Stephanus Kosasih.

"Based on the determination of the day of the trial we received, today it is scheduled to read the indictment of the Public Prosecutor's Team with the defendant Antonius Nicholas Stephanus Kosasih," said KPK Prosecutor Budhi Sarumpaet, in his statement, Tuesday, May 27.

Meanwhile, for one other defendant, namely the President Director of Insight Investment Management, Ekiawan Heri Primaryanto.

Based on the calculation of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the alleged corruption case that occurred in PT Taspen caused state losses of Rp. 1 trillion.

"From the results of the BPK examination, BPK concluded that there were irregularities with criminal indications that resulted in state losses," said BPK Investigation Director General I Nyoman Wara

"The loss in this case is 1 trillion and the Deputy Chairperson of the BPK has conveyed it to the Deputy Chairperson of the LHP BPK," he continued.

In the case of alleged rasuah at PT Taspen, Kosasih and Ekiawan allegedly placing PT Taspen's investment funds of Rp1 trillion in the RD I-Next G2 mutual fund managed by Insight Investment Management. The investment placement is suspected to have cost the state finances around Rp200 billion.

In addition, this alleged crime also benefits a number of parties. Some of them, PT Insight Investment Management amounting to Rp. 78 billion, PT VSI amounting to Rp. 2.2 billion, PT PS around Rp. 102 million, and PT SM around Rp. 44 million.
