Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office Installs A Confiscation Of Mega Mall Related To Corruption Cases

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) confiscated it by installing a sign on the assets of Mega Mall and the Bengkulu Modern Traditional Market (PTM) in Bengkulu.

The installation of a signpost by the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office investigator team is a further step in the legal process for the alleged corruption case of leakage of local revenue (PAD) in Bengkulu City, from the management of the two shopping centers that dragged former Bengkulu Mayor Ahmad Kanedi.

"Yes, we confiscated it. Yesterday it was only limited to administration, and now we are continuing with the installation of a confiscation sign at the location," said Bengkulu Attorney General's Office Investigation Section Head Danang Prasetyo as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 23.

The installation of this confiscation sign is part of the investigation stage after previously only administrative confiscation was carried out.

However, the activities of traders at Mega Mall and PTM are still running normally, because his party only carried out confiscations as part of the legal process.

Previously, the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Special Crime Investigation Team (Pidsus) named the former Mayor of Bengkulu for the period 2007 to 2012 as well as former member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Ahmad Kanedi as a suspect in the corruption case of Mega Mall and the Bengkulu Modern Traditional Market (PTM).

"I was accompanied by Pak Asintel and Aspidsus Bengkulu Attorney General's Office to convey the progress of the investigation regarding the alleged corruption crime on land belonging to the Bengkulu City Government which on top of it has the right to land Mega Mall and PTM. The investigative team has named a suspect against the former Mayor of Bengkulu for the period 2007 to 2012," said Bengkulu Attorney General's Assistant for the Attorney General's Office Andri Kurniawan.

After being named a suspect, Ahmad Kane was detained at the Bengkulu Detention Center (Rutan) for the next 20 days from May 22 to June 10, 2025.
