KY Urges MA To Impose Sanctions On Cassation Judge Ronald Tannur's Case

The Judicial Commission (KY) proposed to the Supreme Court (MA) that one of the judges who tried Gregorius Ronald Tannur's case at the cassation level be sanctioned for indications of violating the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct of Judges (KEPPH).

"Only one of the judges at the cassation level was indicated to have violated the KEPPH," said KY Member and Spokesperson Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata during a press conference at the KY Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 20, which was confiscated by Antara.

However, KY was reluctant to reveal the name of the judge in question and details of the recommendations for sanctions because it involved the ethical realm.

"It is unethical for us to convey it to the public. Unless it is possible for the MKH (the trial of the honorary panel of judges). If the MKH is later an open trial forum will be held. It will be disclosed to the public," he said.

The proposal to impose sanctions on one of the cassation judges was the result of the examination and plenary trial of KY. During the previous examination, KY has examined various parties to obtain evidence that confirms the violation of the code of ethics.

"A plenary session has been carried out, KY has taken a decision proposing the imposition of sanctions to be followed up by the Supreme Court," said Mukti Fajar.

Previously, Dini's lawyer, Sera Afrianti, the murder victim Ronald Tannur, reported three Supreme Court justices who handled Ronald Tannur's case at the cassation level to KY on Wednesday (20/11/2024).

The alleged involvement of the panel of judges in the polemic of the Ronald Tannur case emerged after Zarof Ricar, a former MA official, was named a suspect in the alleged bribery conspiracy by the Attorney General's Office.

During a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, February 10, Zarof Ricar was charged with committing an evil conspiracy in the form of assistance to give or promise something to the judge, namely Rp5 billion in cash, in handling the Ronald Tannur case at the cassation level.

The public prosecutor of the Attorney General's Office explained that the conspiracy was allegedly carried out with legal adviser Ronald Tannur, Lisa Rachmat, with the aim of bribery to Supreme Court Justice Soesilo as chairman of the cassation panel in the Ronald Tannur case.
