Former Supreme Court Official Zarof Ricar Wins Money And Gold From Mining Intermediary Business

JAKARTA - Former Supreme Court (MA) official Zarof Ricar argued that he had money worth Rp915 billion and gold precious metals weighing 51 kilograms from the intermediary business selling gold, coal, and nickel mining fields.

From this business, he received commissions from buyers and mining land owners.

"I have been living this since 2016 when I was the Head of the Supreme Court's Education and Training Research and Development Agency," Zarof said during the trial of the defendant's examination at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, May 19.

He said the mining land was one of them in Papua. From buying and selling gold mines in Papua, he admitted that he had received a commission worth approximately Rp. 10 billion.

The money, he said, was obtained from a contractor and mine land owner in Papua. After receiving it, the money was stored in a safe in Singapore dollars.

Apart from buying and selling gold mining land, Zarof also admitted that he had received a commission from bringing together owners and buyers of nickel and coal mining land.

From the transaction, it was stated that the commission he received amounted to 10 million United States (US) dollars or equivalent to Rp. 100 billion (the exchange rate at that time was Rp. 10,000).

"This was before I became head of the agency, but it was already in the Supreme Court. I put the money in the house safe," he said.

Zarof is a defendant in the case of alleged malicious conspiracy and gratification. In that case, he was charged with conspiracy in the form of assistance to give or promise a judge money worth Rp. 5 billion and received gratuities worth Rp. 915 billion and 51 kilograms of gold while serving in the Supreme Court to assist in case management from 2012 to 2022.

The alleged conspiracy was carried out with legal adviser Ronald Tannur, Lisa Rachmat, with the aim of bribery to Supreme Court Chief Justice Soesilo in Ronald Tannur's case at the cassation level in 2024.
