Married couple who pimped on online prostitution / Antara

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Majalengka Police, West Java arrested a married couple who work as pimps in online prostitution, after reports from the public.

"The couple we arrested had the initials HH (35) and DA (29)," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Majalengka Police, AKP Siswo DC Tarigan, in Majalengka, as reported by Antara, Friday, April 30.

Siswo said the two suspects, who were married, were arrested after being proven to be pimping prostitution online through one of the social media applications.

The two suspects, according to Siswo, employed minors to be sold to masher through social media at a rate of Rp. 500 thousand per date.

"This online prostitution case was revealed after we received reports from the public," he also said.

Based on the results of the investigation, Siswo continued, the husband and wife were found to have been running their illegal business for about two months.

As a result of his actions, the suspect DA was charged under Article 88 of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection with the threat of 10 years in prison.

"Meanwhile, HH is charged with Article 45 of Law No.19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, with the threat of 6 years in prison," he said.
