President Utus Coordinating Minister For Human Development Muhaimin Attends Pope Leo XIV's Inauguration At The Vatican

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto also sent Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar to attend Pope Leo XIV's inauguration at the Vatican which was scheduled for Sunday (18/5) local time.

Previously, President Prabowo had assigned the Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi to go to the Vatican to attend the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.

"Tonight I left for the Vatican to attend Pope Leo XIV's inauguration on Sunday," said Muhaimin Iskandar in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 16.

He said Pope Leo XIV's inauguration mass was planned to be held in St. Peter's Square, Vatican.

"Based on travel time, we will arrive at the Vatican on time," he said.

Pope Leo XIV's inauguration Mass will mark the official start of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was elected leader of the Catholic Church on May 8, 2025, to replace Pope Francis who died on April 21, 2025.

During the mass, Pope Leo XIV will accept two symbolic objects as part of the inauguration tradition.

The mass is scheduled to be witnessed by royal families, world leaders, and Catholics from various countries.

Pope Leo XIV, formerly known as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, became the first Pope from the United States and is the 267th Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic Church.
