Sultan Bolkiah: RI-Brunei Harmony Is Important To Face Geopoliticals

JAKARTA - The Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah assessed that the harmony of diplomatic relations established by Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam is very important in dealing with the uncertainty of the current geopolitical and international economy situation.

This was conveyed by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah when receiving a state visit from President Prabowo Subianto at Nurul Iman Palace, Begawan Series Bandar, Brunei Darussalam, Wednesday, May 14.

"It is important for both countries to continue to work hand in hand in ensuring that people's welfare will always be guaranteed, especially the stability of the food provision chain," said Sultan Bolkiah in his remarks during the state lunch.

Sultan Bolkiah said RI and Brunei Darussalam had celebrated 40 years of diplomatic relations. The relationship between the two countries, said Sultan Bolkiah, reflects the spirit of brotherhood and a deep understanding among the leaders of the country.

According to Sultan Bolkiah, the privilege of RI-Brunei Darussalam relations is based on the similarity of history, religion and language, as the basis for fostering harmony together.

He said the cooperation between the two countries was not only beneficial for the advancement of relations in various fields of mutual interest, but also encouraged exchange of visits at all levels.

Sultan Bolkiah on that occasion also described Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia's relationship as a true friendship.

"One body when one member is sick will feel pain all over the body. This is a sacred friendship between two friends throughout the religion," he said meaningfully.

In this historic moment, the two leaders also emphasized their commitment to continue to contribute to regional stability and progress through active roles in ASEAN.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah stated his country's commitment to continue working with Indonesia and ASEAN, as well as advancing the vision of ASEAN 2045.

President Prabowo's state visit is a new chapter in strengthening strategic, economic, socio-cultural, and religious relations between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. The two countries prove that friendship based on values, history, and shared belief will continue to be a solid foundation in facing the future.
