JAKARTA - The police said that the action of a viral boy driving a tractor truck was an old incident. Based on the examination of the boy's action, it took place in 2020.
"This incident was originally 6 months ago. However, it only went viral in the media around April 2021", said Traffic Director of Jakarta Police Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Friday, April 30.
The boy's uncle with the initials H has been fired from the company where he works. Because the company knew that he was letting his nephew drive the big truck.
"After the incident, PT STA received information about the existence of the video, so now the development of Mr. H has been stopped by the management of PT STA", said Sambodo.
In handling this incident, the Ditlantas will coordinate with the Directorate of General Crimes of Jakarta Metro Police regarding the actions taken by H. There are allegations of child exploitation.
"To Mr. H and PT STA, we will coordinate with the Sub-Directorate of Renakta in Crimum to see if there are allegations of criminal offenses related to exploitation of children in the economic sector", said Sambodo.
Meanwhile, for the boy, no legal process was carried out. This boy is given assistance and education regarding driving rules.
"To the child by referring to the Child Protection Law and the juvenile criminal justice system, namely Law 11 of 2012, which requires diversion to minors", said Sambodo.

"Because H felt sleepy, then stopped and was replaced by the child who was his nephew", said Sambodo.
From the examination, the boy did not actually drive all the way to Tasikmalaya, as he confessed in the video. He only drove 7 kilometers, from KM 12 to KM 19 to be exact.
"This child took the truck up to KM 19. Then between KM 12 and KM 19, the camera was recorded by a fellow driver who was joking", he said.
