JAKARTA - A number of flag attributes from various community organizations (Ormas) were brought under control by the Tanah Abang Metro Police in several public spaces in the Tanah Abang area on Sunday, May 11, noon.

Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, Kompol Haris Akhmad Basuki said the lowering of the mass organization flag was carried out by his staff together with the mass organization in the Petamburan area, Tanah Abang.

"This control is carried out to maintain public order and prevent horizontal conflicts between mass organizations which are often triggered by the installation of attributes in any place," said Kompol Haris when confirmed.

From the results of the control operation, it was found that three flags of the Betawi Rempug Forum (FBR) were found on the garden fence of Jalan Petamburan III and two flags of the Pancasila Youth Organization (PP) on Jalan Petamburan II.

"We have coordinated humanely with mass organization leaders. They cooperated and removed their own flag," he said.

The control of the flag of this mass organization is part of Operation Eradication Jaya which refers to Perda No. 8 of 2007 concerning Public Order.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Abang Metro Police, Kompol Martua Malau, added that the police are committed to maintaining security and order in a persuasive, sustainable and professional manner.

"Premanism should not be allowed to grow from things like this," he said.

In addition, the police also do not hesitate to eradicate acts of thuggery in any form in the Tanah Abang area.

Previously, it was reported that two Kebon Kacang thugs in the Tanah Abang area were again arrested by the Central Jakarta Metro Police Anti Thug Team on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
