Head of the Bogor City Health Office Sri Nowo Retno said an epidemiological investigation was carried out immediately after the report was received at around 12.00 WIB. The first case was known to appear at 15.00 WIB, with a total of 36 people experiencing symptoms such as mild diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and fever.
"Of the 36 cases, 12 people were hospitalized. Five are still undergoing treatment, while seven others have been allowed to go home," said Retno in her statement, Thursday, May 8.
As many as 24 other people who experience mild symptoms have been treated by the School Health Unit (UKS) doctor at the Insani Bina School.
The Health Office has taken samples of food to be tested in the laboratory. The results are estimated to come out within a few days. Retno added that his party also checked the kitchen of the food provider which distributed 2,977 servings to 13 schools.
"Until 17.00 WIB, there have been no case reports from 12 other schools," he said.
The Health Office is coordinating with the Education Office and schools to monitor the possibility of additional cases emerging. All hospitals in Bogor City have also been asked to be prepared.
