JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ensured that the police would thoroughly oversee the celebration of International Labor Day (May Day) which was held at Monas Square, Central Jakarta.
He has instructed all ranks of the Bhayangkara Corps to escort elements of workers from the beginning to the end of the event.
"Of course we together with all other related colleagues involved in security will oversee from the departure process to the return," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 1.
In addition to securing the event, General Sigit also ensured that traffic flow could continue to run conducively.
He has instructed officers in the field to regulate traffic so that all people can be served, be it labor groups who will attend commemoration events or people who will be active.
"What is clear is that we have arranged traffic flow regulations, both from routes originating from the East and those from the Tangerang area," he said.
"So, we ask for these routes to be informed so that people who will use the road, especially Sudirman-Thamrin, can still be used for activities," he added.
The National Police Chief also hopes that the commemoration of Labor Day, which will be attended directly by President Prabowo Subianto, will bring good news to the workers.
"We hope that this May Day Fiestali activity, especially later it will be attended directly by the President, can really provide surprises or gifts that may be good news for workers," he said.
