West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police (Polda) detained an employee of the Mataram University (Unram) Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) with the initials S (52) suspected of impregnating a student during a real work course (KKN).
Head of the Sub-Directorate for Reskrimum of the NTB Police, AKBP Ni Made Pujawati, said that this detention was the investigator's decision to facilitate the legal process which is still ongoing at the investigation stage by naming S as a suspect.
"So, this detention is to facilitate the ongoing legal process. Investigators are also considering the suspect's position so as not to repeat his actions because he is in a vulnerable group (victim) environment," said Pujawati in Mataram, NTB, Friday, April 25, as reported by Antara.
He emphasized that the detention took place after investigators conducted an examination for the first time against the suspect who was accompanied by a lawyer.
Pujawati said that investigators had entrusted the detention of suspect S in the detention cell of the Directorate of Detention and Evidence (Dittahti) of the NTB Police.
"So, investigators detained them for the first 20 days at the NTB Regional Police's Dittahti," he said.
The police handled this case based on the follow-up to the victim's report with the assistance of the Unram Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (PPKS) on November 4, 2024, according to the police report number: LP/B/186/XI/2024/SPKT/POLDA NTB.
From the results of the case title, suspect S is indicated to have committed a criminal act of physical sexual harassment as referred to in Article 6 letter C or Article 6 letter B of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS).
