JAKARTA - DKI Governor Pramono Anung hopes that residents will believe in public transportation through the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government program to reduce congestion and air pollution.

"It is hoped that people will change from using private vehicles, believing in public transportation prepared by the government," Pramono said in a discussion on "Jakarta Urban Mobility Festival 2025" at Pasaraya Blok M Jakarta, Thursday, April 24.

Pramono said that gradually his party would make fundamental changes with the aim of making Jakarta's transportation better.

He assessed that changing Jakarta cannot only build, complete and add infrastructure. Because this will not reduce congestion and emissions that occur.

Therefore, it is necessary to change the perspective and habits of the community with education regarding government policies that are implemented.

He hopes that in addition to providing education, the government also promises to continue to be committed to reducing air pollution in Jakarta.

"Acara yang seperti ini, selain melakukan pendidikan, pengetahuan dan juga yang paling penting adalah keseriusan kita untuk mengimplementasikan kebijakan yang lebih benar," ujarnya.

He mentioned a number of programs carried out by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, namely by inaugurating the Transjabodetabek route Blok M-Alam Sutera which connects Jakarta with buffer areas.

"I have decided this year that six new routes of Transjabodetabek must connect Jakarta with buffer areas," he said.

Then, improving public transportation facilities, increasing the number of electric buses, forcing ASN to take public transportation on Wednesday to parking arrangements in Jakarta.

British Ambassador Dominic Jermey also conveyed the importance of changing the mindset of people who still use private vehicles rather than just improving infrastructure.

"The solution is not only infrastructure improvement, but also the mindset of cities requires an integrated strategy of dependence on personal information," said Dominic.

Dominic added, according to a study in 2019, Jakarta suffered a loss of around IDR 45 trillion every year due to declining productivity in air quality which worsened by causing health risks.
