JAKARTA - The sidewalk along Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, precisely in front of Block A and Block B of Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta, is increasingly mushrooming the illegal parking of two-wheeled vehicles. Hundreds of these vehicles are neatly arranged which are directed by illegal jukir (parking attendants) on the sidewalk and shoulder of the road.

The illegal parking rates for two-wheeled vehicles in this area vary. Starting from IDR 5 thousand - IDR 10,000 per motorbike parked on the sidewalk in the front area of Block A and Blok B Tanah Abang Market, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.

"Earlier I paid Rp. 5,000, I was asked by the illegal jukir. I was forced to park here because the official parking is far away. It is more efficient here," said Adit, a illegal parking user, Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Although the illegal parking of motorbikes in front of Block A and Block B of Tanah Abang Market does not disturb traffic jams, pedestrian access is very disturbed.

In fact, people with disabilities cannot use the yellow lane to walk because it is covered by motorbikes parked lined along the sidewalk.

Ironically, there was no control over the authorities from Tanah Abang District and the Central Jakarta City Government who carried out sterilization of the sidewalk.

Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department officers also did not take any action so that the illegal parking of motorbikes on the sidewalks of Block A and Block B of Tanah Abang Market is increasingly mushrooming and safe.
