JAKARTA - A foreign man (WNA) reportedly went berserk at Kalibata City Mall, Pancoran, South Jakarta. The man's action made mall visitors worry about hurting people around him, especially at very high risk for his child who was beside him at that time.
The police who received the report immediately arrived at the location to carry out the handling and are currently investigating the case. In addition to encouraging local residents, the action was also viral on social media, because it was considered disturbing the order and comfort of apartment residents.
The Pancoran police chief, Kompol Mansur, explained that the police had secured the child of the foreigner during the incident. This was done to prevent potential danger, considering that the father was seen in an unstable condition.
"Not being beaten, we actually secured his son for fear that the perpetrator would throw him on a rampage," Mansur told reporters, Monday, April 21.
In a video that is widely circulated on social media platform X (Twitter), it appears that a foreign man without wearing clothes his superior is in a supermarket with the condition of the items around him being messy. He only wears shorts and appears to be supervised by security officers and residents.
Mansur revealed that the incident was allegedly triggered by family problems. The perpetrator, who is said to have lived in the Kalibata City apartment for a long time, is known to be drunk while on a rampage on Monday afternoon.

"This is triggered by family problems. This is not the first incident. Previously, before Eid yesterday, the perpetrator was also angry and his wife asked us for protection," he said.
Officers immediately evacuated the perpetrator's child to avoid the risk of injury. Meanwhile, foreigners who had suffered injuries were taken to Kramat Jati Hospital for medical treatment.
"We took a persuasive approach. We didn't arrest him, but we secured him and cured him. After that he was willing to come with us," explained Mansur.
From the initial examination, it was found that the perpetrator did not have a residence permit problem. However, administratively, he is registered to live in the West Jakarta area, not in South Jakarta where the incident took place.
The police are currently still investigating the incident to find out the exact background and ensure there are no further threats to the surrounding environment.
