JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Abdullah, condemned the burning of three police cars during an operation to arrest the leader of a community organization (Ormas) in Depok City, West Java.

Abdullah questioned the development of the Anti-Premanism Task Force (Satgas) formed by the Governor of West Java (Jabar), Dedi Mulyadi.

"Where have you come from the Anti-Premanism Task Force formed by Governor Dedi Mulyadi?" Abdullah, who is also a PKB politician, Monday, April 21.

According to Abdullah, the formation of a task force consisting of the National Police and the TNI which was planned until the sub-district level became urgent after the vandalism incident by a group of residents when members of the Depok Police arrested one of the leaders of mass organizations who had legal problems.

As is known, three police cars were burned by a mob in Kampung Baru, Harjamukti, Cimanggis, Depok, when the police were about to arrest the perpetrators of the persecution who was the head of the local mass organization, Friday, April 18.

According to the police, the arrest was made because the person concerned was reported for land control, persecution and possession of firearms.

The police also explained that the pick-up of the leaders of mass organizations who had problems with the law was carried out after two summons were sent, but the perpetrators did not fulfill the summons for the examination.

When forcibly picked up, the leader of the mass organization fought against members of the Depok Metro Police to invite the attention of residents. Given that the suspect is also a local figure, a group of residents chased police officers to prevent the suspect from being taken to the Depok Metro Police Headquarters.

When the mob pursued police officers who were carrying four cars, three of them were stuck and the car was burned to the ground. Even so, the police still managed to bring the perpetrator to the Depok Metro Police Headquarters with one remaining car. The police have also arrested two perpetrators of burning the car.

Regarding this incident, Abdullah urged the police to take firm action against all parties involved in prevention and vandalism in the arrest of the perpetrator who is the leader of the mass organization. He stressed that decisive action must be taken in order to maintain the dignity of law enforcement that cannot be intervened by anyone with any number of masses.

"Strict action against vandalism perpetrators in the arrest of mass organizations leaders by members of the Depok Metro Police is a law enforcement step. The state through the police must not lose to any acts of thuggery that violate the law," he said.

Abdullah also encouraged the optimization of the work of the Anti-Premanism Task Force by the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi.

In order for similar incidents not to be repeated, the member of the legal commission also asked the Depok Metro Police to coordinate with the Community Early Alert Forum (FKDM). According to Abdullah, this step is a form of anticipation of resistance or vandalism related to the actions of police officers against those who violate the law.

"The goal is that the Depok Metro Police can map and intervene in the potential resistance of a group of people who support those who violate the law," Abdullah said.

"This is for the sake of maintaining the safety and security of police officers while on duty," continued the legislator from the Central Java VI electoral district.

Abdullah also reminded that the commitment to eradicating thuggery requires the synergy of local governments with the central government which is supported by all levels of society.

"This is a form of support for President Prabowo Subianto who stated that he will brush or fight all acts of thuggery that have proven to have disrupted the investment climate and national economic stability," Abdullah concluded.
