Prabowo Doesn't Move The Issue Of Twin Sun: Minister To Jokowi Is Not A Political Manuver

The elected President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, responded casually to the friendship of a number of cabinet ministers who visited the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during the 2025 Eid moment. Although there was speculation about the potential of twin suns' in the upcoming government, Prabowo emphasized that there was nothing to be worried about.

The statement was made by the Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, who ensured that Prabowo did not feel disturbed by the dynamics at all. On the other hand, he actually considered the friendship between the ministers to Jokowi as a form of respect and culture that must be maintained.

"Pak Prabowo does not feel disturbed by the situation," Muzani told the media, Saturday, April 19.

He added that the tradition of keeping in touch during Eid is part of the noble values of the Indonesian nation. In this case, the ministers who attended Jokowi's residence were considered to have shown a polite and ethical attitude towards the leaders who had previously served.

"President Prabowo respects it as Lebaran manners and a tradition of keeping in touch with people who are elders or respected," added Muzani.

Support for Prabowo's open attitude also came from within the coalition parties, including the Golkar Party. The deputy chairman of the Golkar Party, Idrus Marham, assessed that the discourse of twin sun' thrown by a number of parties was baseless accusations and could damage national political togetherness.

"There is no twin sun. The authentic president is Prabowo. Jokowi clearly positioned himself in state ethics," Idrus said in a statement in the Senayan area last week.

According to Idrus, the friendship carried out by ministers such as Bahlil Lahadalia who is also the General Chair of Golkar as well as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources is part of the nation's culture which should not be interpreted as a political step.

Furthermore, Idrus described Prabowo as a leader who is open to input from anyone, including national figures and former presidents. For him, this inclusive attitude is a strong asset in facing the challenges of the nation in the future.

"Pak Prabowo is gentle and patriotic. He invites all parties who have experience leading the nation to contribute ideas," Idrus added.

Figures such as Jokowi, Megawati Soekarnoputri, to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) are considered to still have an important contribution to Indonesia's development, and Prabowo is said to have not closed the door to the collaboration of ideas.

The gathering of ministers to Jokowi is considered not to injure Prabowo's legitimacy as the elected leader. On the other hand, the interaction became a symbol that Indonesian democracy was able to produce an elegant and peaceful transition of power.
