The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Cimahi Police uncovered the practice of producing synthetic tobacco in a rented house in Gang Bakti, Jalan Cisangkan Hilir, Padasuka Village, Cimahi City, West Java (West Java).
Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Niko Nurallah Adi Putra said his party had arrested three suspects with the initials SH, MR, and DAP. The three of them are suspected of being involved in the production and circulation of synthetic tobacco class narcotics.
"This house is used as a home industry, a place for production, sales, storage, and offers class I narcotics in the form of liquid for synthetic tobacco," Niko said in Cimahi Friday, April 18, which was confiscated by Antara.
Niko revealed that this case stems from the arrest of suspect SH. From the results of the investigation, the police then arrested MR and DAP and found the rented house which was used as a production site.
"Among the three suspects, two people act as dealers of goods produced by the DAP suspect," he said.
From the raid, the police confiscated a number of pieces of evidence, including 37 bottles of liquid containing narcotics and 40 grams of synthetic tobacco. The total value of these illicit goods is estimated at IDR 350 million.
"This number has the potential to save about 35 thousand people from the dangers of drugs," he said.
The three suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph 2, Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, and Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 30 of 2023 concerning Changes in Narcotics Classification.
"The punishment is imprisonment for a maximum of life and a minimum of six years," said Niko.
The Cimahi Police appealed to the public to immediately report if they found suspicious activity in the surrounding environment, as a joint effort to eradicate drug trafficking.
