MRT Jakarta Tariff Rp1 on the 499th Anniversary, Encourage Citizens to Switch to Public Transportation

JAKARTA - The public can enjoy traveling on the Jakarta MRT by paying only Rp1 on June 22, 27, and 28, 2026. The special fare is imposed in the context of the 499th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta and is an effort to encourage more people to switch to public transportation.

The policy is carried out by PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) based on the Decree of the Head of the Transportation Service of the DKI Jakarta Province Number 102 of 2026 concerning the Provision of Free Public Transportation Services and/or Rp1 Tariff in the Context of the 499th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta.

The Rp1 tariff applies to all MRT Jakarta journeys on the date set by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Tuhiyat assessed that the anniversary of Jakarta was an opportunity to strengthen the culture of using public transportation in the capital.

"MRT Jakarta welcomes the policy of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which provides a special rate of Rp. 1 for the public in the context of the 499th anniversary of the City of Jakarta. This program is a form of appreciation to the public while inviting more residents to experience the ease, comfort, and reliability of public transportation as part of daily mobility," said Tuhiyat in his statement, Sunday, June 21.

According to him, the special tariff program is expected to be able to attract more people to try or return to using public transportation as a daily mode of transportation.

MRT Jakarta also appeals to all customers to comply with the rules and maintain mutual comfort while using the service. At the same time, the company emphasizes its commitment to supporting intermodal integration and the development of sustainable urban transportation systems.

"We hope that this momentum can further increase public interest in switching to public transportation. With more and more residents using public transportation, we together contribute to creating a more connected, efficient, and environmentally friendly Jakarta," said Tuhiyat.

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung said the implementation of special tariffs on transportation services managed by the DKI Jakarta BUMD was part of the celebration of Jakarta's Independence Day as well as a form of appreciation to the community.

"In particular, to welcome the anniversary of Jakarta on June 22, June 27-28, we will free public transportation," said Pramono.

The DKI Provincial Government hopes that this policy can increase public interest in using public transportation and reduce dependence on private vehicles in Jakarta.
