TANGERANG - The Mayor of South Tangerang (Tangsel), Benyamin Davnie, expressed his concern over the alleged corruption case that ensnared the Head of the South Tangerang Environment Agency (DLH), Wahyonoto Lukman, and a number of these service employees. The total state losses in this case reached Rp75.9 billion.

"I am sorry for what is currently happening. I completely leave it to the applicable legal process," said Benjamin in a written statement, Friday, April 18.

He also appealed to employees involved to be cooperative in the investigation process so that the case could be disclosed thoroughly.

"I hope my friends can always cooperate with the ongoing legal process," he continued.

Regarding the vacancy after the determination of the suspect, Benjamin admitted that he had appointed an Acting (Plt) to fill the position, in order to ensure that public services continue to run, especially in the field of waste management.

"Certainly I have to appoint Plt so that the planned programs and activities can continue to run well," he said.

Previously, the Banten High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) had named the Head of the South Tangerang DLH, Wahyonoto Lukman, and the Head of the Cleanliness Division, Tubagus Apriliandhi Kusumah Perbangsa, as suspects in the alleged corruption case in waste management.

Both have been detained at the Class IIB Pandeglang Detention Center since Thursday (17/4).

"Wahinoto and Tubagus are being held at the Class IIB Pandeglang Detention Center, Banten," said Head of Legal Information at the Banten Prosecutor's Office, Rangga Adekresna.

This case is in the public spotlight because of the enormous loss value and the involvement of structural officials within the city government. Investigations are still ongoing to trace the flow of funds and the possibility of other suspects.
