JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has appointed Laksana Tri Handoko as Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) replacing Bambang Brodjonegoro.

After being inaugurated, he targeted for investment in the Science and Technology (Science and Technology) sector.

It is hoped that this incoming investment can have a direct economic impact on the community. So, the existence of this agency can be felt by many parties, including all people in the country.

"We are targeting to have an economic impact from various research activities and innovations from various R&D so that they will have a direct economic impact on society and at the same time lead to new investment entering the science and technology sector from within and outside the country," said Laksana in a press conference. after being inaugurated at the State Palace, Wednesday, April 28.

"So that the benefits of the existence of BRIN can be felt," he added.

In addition, he will also consolidate with various parties in a short time. So that, in the future, the ecosystem for research and innovation can be better.

"National Agency for Research and Innovation is not only a producer of research and innovation, but BRIN must also be able to become a facilitator for people outside including from universities and industry," he said.

With the formation of this ecosystem, in the future, all parties can carry out research and innovation to support the economy in the country in the long term.

Furthermore, in achieving all of these targets, his party will certainly cooperate with many parties. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and the Ministry of Investment are no exception.

"Because we are also targeted to be able to get investment from the science and technology sector and natural resources in Indonesia have a lot of unexploited potential," he said.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had inaugurated Bahlil Lahadalia and Nadiem Makarim. Both were sworn in at the State Palace.

Bahlil, who previously served as Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), was appointed as Minister of Investment. Meanwhile Nadiem served as Minister of Education, Culture-Research and Technology.

In addition to inaugurating the two men, Jokowi also installed the Head of BRIN, Laksana Tri Handoko. This inauguration took place after Bahlil and Nadiem read their oaths of office.
