BNN RI-DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Strengthens Collaboration To Handle Drug Problems

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia together with the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta strengthened collaboration in dealing with drug problems in the capital city through an audience between the Head of BNN RI and the Governor of DKI Jakarta in Jakarta, Friday (11/4).

During the meeting, the two parties emphasized the importance of a comprehensive and collaborative approach to dealing with drug problems in Jakarta

"Jakarta is currently the epicenter of illicit drug trafficking with a prevalence rate of users reaching 3.3 percent or equivalent to 132,000 people," said Head of BNN RI Police Commissioner General Martinus Hukom in a meeting, as confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday.

Martinus also discussed social conditions in densely populated areas of Jakarta, which are often pockets of illicit drug trafficking.

Poverty, according to him, is used by dealers to form various new social platforms.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta BNN, Brigadier General of Police Nurhadi Yuwono, revealed that based on the data and mapping carried out, there were 112 drug-prone areas in DKI Jakarta Province.

As a form of handling, the DKI Jakarta Provincial BNN said that currently there are four clinics that are known to have provided rehabilitation services to 1,150 users in the capital, and have implemented various programs such as anti-drug declarations, social services, socialization, Community-Based Intervention programs (IBM), and so on.

Responding to this, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his full appreciation and support for the various steps taken by the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN RI) and the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

"We really appreciate the efforts that have been made by BNN RI and BNN DKI Jakarta Province and we will provide full support, especially in a preventive and educational approach," Pramono said on the same occasion.

He also said that in the future his party would involve health centers in Jakarta in providing outpatient rehabilitation services for drug abusers. He realized that drug abusers were victims of dealers and dealers.

In addition, Pramono also emphasized the importance of early detection of drug abuse and plans to involve the community from all levels in prevention efforts, ranging from the Neighborhood Association/Resident Rukun (RT/RW), Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK), Dharma Wanita, Karang Taruna, to Abang None Jakarta.
