The Menpora Cup 2021 Appreciated By The COVID-19 Task Force And The National Police

JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the COVID-19 Handling Task Force appreciated the 2021 Menpora Cup. This pre-season tournament was appreciated for having gone well and implementing health protocols in a disciplined manner.

"In principle, the implementation of the Menpora Cup pre-season tournament was successful, both the evaluation of the implementation, the evaluation of security and the implementation of health protocols were also good", said Assistant Chief of Police, Inspector General Imam Sugianto after attending a coordination meeting to evaluate the implementation of the Menpora Cup at Wisma Kemenpora, Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, April 28.

He admits that the success of holding the Menpora Cup pre-season tournament is a point to be able to organize future activities.

"Of course this is a point in organizing the next events", explained Imam.

On the other hand, this two-star general regretted the supporters who had acted up after the second leg of the Menpora Cup. The National Police, according to him, is currently investigating the crowd incident in Jakarta and the vandalism in Bandung.

"It is quite unfortunate that the activities that have gone well and been successful have been injured by several unscrupulous people. We saw yesterday that the supporters gathered at the HI Roundabout", said Imam

"The police are still doing their deepening. When later this contributes to a violation of health protocols, the National Police will take a firm stance in taking measured police action in the process", he continued.

Furthermore, Imam also regretted the attitude of Persib Bandung supporters who expressed their disappointment by destroying and sweeping. He hopes that football supporters in the country will continue to be educated so they don't do the same thing.

"The meeting has been conveyed, this is a shared responsibility. Club supporters must be educated to maintain behavior. Hopefully, with this evaluation, we can hold even better events", he added.

On the same occasion, the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force Health Management Division, General of National Army (TNI) (Retired) Alexander K Ginting assessed that the health protocol had been implemented properly during the 2021 Menpora Cup pre-season tournament.

"The Task Force appreciates the implementation of (Menpora Cup) which has been done well. For the task force, maintaining public safety and security is the main thing. Health protocol must continue to be implemented, this is our responsibility. So that sports activities can still unite us", he concluded.
