JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most parts of Indonesia will experience rain with varying intensity on Friday, April 11, ranging from light rain to rain accompanied by lightning.

BMKG forecaster Yohanes was quoted by ANTARA, saying that light rain is predicted to occur in a number of areas on the island of Sumatra, including Banda Aceh; Medan, North Sumatra; Padang, West Sumatra; Pekanbaru, Riau; Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands; Jambi; and Palembang, South Sumatra.

"Then on the island of Java, light rain is predicted to flush Serang, Banten; Jakarta; and Surabaya, East Java," he said.

Similar conditions, he said, are also predicted to occur in Denpasar, Bali; Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; Pontianak, West Kalimantan; Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan; Samarinda, East Kalimantan; Makassar, South Sulawesi; Palu, Central Sulawesi; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.

Light rain is predicted to hit several areas in eastern Indonesia, such as Jayapura, Papua; Manokwari, West Papua; Sorong, Southwest Papua; Ternate, North Maluku; and Ambon, Maluku.

Meanwhile, moderate-intensity rain has the potential to occur in the Bandung area, West Java; Semarang, Central Java; Yogyakarta; Mamuju, West Sulawesi; Gorontalo; and Merauke, South Papua.

BMKG also warned of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in several areas, including Bengkulu; Bandar Lampung, Lampung; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Manado, North Sulawesi; and Nabire, Central Papua.
