Meanwhile, United States Minister of Defense Lloyd Austin also expressed his condolences to the Republic of Indonesia, and called the incident experienced by KRI Nanggal-402 a tragic thing, through his Twitter account.
"It is very sad to hear of the tragic deaths of 53 Indonesian sailors on board. My thoughts and prayers are with the sailors' families and all those in the Indonesian military, as they pass through this tragedy," he wrote.
Singapore as Indonesia's neighbor also expressed condolences through President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long, who sent a letter to President Joko Widodo.
"I am sorry for the loss of 53 crew members as a result of the sinking of the submarine KRI Nanggala-402. On behalf of the people of Singapore, I offer my utmost condolences to the Indonesian people," wrote President Halimah Yacob as uploaded by the Facebook account of the Singapore Embassy for Indonesia.
Likewise, the leader of Saudi Arabia King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also expressed their condolences to President Joko Widodo. King Salman expressed his prayers and sympathy for all victims and prayed for the blessings of Allah SWT.
KRI Nanggala-402 was declared drowned by TNI Commander Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto on Saturday, April 24, while all 53 crew members were declared dead.
