BNPB Weather Engineering In West Java Until D-1 Lebaran 2025

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) carried out weather engineering in West Java (West Java) from 27-30 March 2025 as an effort to mitigate disasters ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah.

"West Java is predicted to have moderate to heavy rain on Friday (March 28), and the point is at the peak (Bogor), so, to address this, BNPB and the West Java Provincial Government have agreed that from 27-30 March 2025 weather engineering will be carried out," said Head of BNPB Suharyanto in Jakarta, Thursday, March 27, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that West Java in collaboration with the TNI would seed the clouds by distributing salt by plane during the day, while BNPB would seed the clouds by flying at night.

"For the Banten area, light rain is still relatively safe, so mitigation related to the weather to ahead of Eid al-Fitr is only in West Java," he said.

He explained, based on weather forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), light rain will still occur until April 1, 2025, while tidal flooding is predicted to occur in coastal areas of Jakarta from March 28 to April 1, 2025.

"It was confirmed that for Jakarta there was light rain from March 25 to April 1, 2025, from the BMKG prediction, there was only the threat of tidal flooding from March 28 to April 1, 2025, earlier we coordinated with the Governor of Jakarta and took mitigation steps," he said.

He explained, learning from the flood experience that occurred in Bogor, BNPB provided landslide-prone maps throughout West Java and built posts with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) so that people can mitigate as well as find out which locations can be visited when disasters occur such as floods and landslides.

"At the BNPB and BPBD posts, there are logistics, rest areas, and there are also personnel who can directly provide assistance when a disaster occurs," he said.
