High Rainfall Alert, Tangerang Residents Asked For Flood Alert During Homecoming

JAKARTA - Flood disasters are a threat that residents of Tangerang City need to watch out for, especially for those planning to go home. Facing the high rainfall season, people are advised to take anticipatory steps to secure valuables at home before traveling.

The Tangerang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reminded residents not to be careless about the risk of flooding that still has the potential to occur, considering that the Hydrometeorological Disaster Emergency Alert status is still in effect.

"Before leaving the house for homecoming, make sure the goods are properly arranged so as not to be affected by flooding in case of an emergency," said Tangerang City BPBD Chief Executive Ubaidillah Ansar, on Sunday in Tangerang, as quoted by ANTARA.

The Tangerang City Government has decided to extend the Hydrometeorological Disaster Emergency Alert Status until April 13, 2025. This decision is based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), which predicts the potential for heavy rain in the region during the March I Basisian 2025.

In addition, early warning from the Regional II BMKG Center through a letter numbered e.B/KL.00.02/007/KBB2/II/2025 dated February 28, 2025 also confirmed the possibility of high rainfall in Banten Province, especially Tangerang City, during that period.

Ubaidillah advised residents to coordinate with local RT/RW before going home to ensure that the condition of the house remains safe. In addition to the risk of flooding, the public is also asked to check other potential disasters such as gas leaks and fires before leaving the house.

"We have prepared a disaster post and coordinated with areas that have high potential to be affected by disasters such as floods and fires," he added.
