Two Groups Of Youth Involved In Clashes At Senen Market, Police: Perpetrators And Sajam Successfully Arrested

JAKARTA - Two groups of youths were involved in a commotion in the Pasar Senen area, Central Jakarta, Sunday, March 23, in the early hours of the morning. The incident made traders at Pasar Senen panic.

However, the commotion was resolved after residents reported the incident to the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

Then the Central Jakarta Metro Police Samapta Unit Precision Pioneer Patrol Team went straight to the TKP and arrested the perpetrators.

"Two perpetrators with the initials I (26) and S (39) were arrested with evidence of golf clubs, two iron handles and one sickle," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro when confirmed, Sunday, March 23, afternoon.

Kombes Susatyo said his party would continue to carry out patrols to ensure the safety of residents.

"We will not provide space for perpetrators of brawls and acts of thuggery that disturb public order," he said.

For further processing, the two perpetrators were taken to the Central Jakarta Metro Police. Both were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 for possession of sharp weapons without a permit.

"They face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison," he said.
