Deadly Accident In East Lombok, One Dead, Two Seriously Injured

JAKARTA - A tragic accident occurred on Jalan Raya Selong, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, involving a truck and a motorcycle. This incident left one person dead on the spot and two others seriously injured.

Head of Public Relations of the East Lombok Police, AKP Nicolas Oesman, confirmed the incident on Sunday, March 23. According to him, the accident occurred because three motorbike riders drove at high speed from the west and tried to overtake the vehicle in front of him.

When overtaking, motorcyclists do not pay attention to vehicles coming from the opposite direction. When they arrived at the scene, a truck passed from the opposite direction, so the collision was inevitable," explained AKP Nicolas Oesman.

As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist bounced. The victim with the initials A (14), a resident of Korleko Village, died on the spot. Meanwhile, two of his friends suffered serious injuries in the form of broken bones and are currently undergoing intensive treatment at Dr. Soejono Selong Hospital.

Witnesses who were at the location immediately provided assistance and took the victims to the Emergency Installation at Dr. Soejono Selong Hospital for medical treatment.

"The victim's body has been handed over to the family for burial. Meanwhile, the other two victims are still being treated intensively at the hospital," he added.

AKP Nicolas Oesman also revealed that the three victims did not wear safety helmets while riding a motorcycle.

"We always urge the public to wear safety helmets when driving for their own safety," he said.

Currently, the accident case is in the handling of the East Lombok Police Traffic Unit for further investigation.
