JAKARTA - The Independent Indonesian Student Committee (KIM-Indonesia) held a demonstration in front of the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

They urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate allegations of corruption in the Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi. It is suspected that this fraudulent practice involved state officials.

"We urge the KPK to immediately thoroughly investigate the alleged corruption of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Banggai, Amirudin and Furqanuddin and their kronins, 24 sub-districts," said the field coordinator, Ubay during the action, Friday, March 21.

Ubay said this pressure was not without reason. He said, there had been findings by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on the audit of regional expenditures in Banggai Regency for the 2024 fiscal year.

In the audit, Ubay explained, BPK found practices that were suspected of violating the law and carried out collectively by regents, deputy regents, and 24 sub-district heads in Banggai Regency with a total ceiling of Rp123,853,529,729.

"It is known that BPK's findings were based on the delegation of the Banggai Regent's authority to 24 sub-districts where there were administrative discrepancies and irregularities in the procurement of goods whose management was allegedly detrimental to state/regional finances," said Ubay.

"The Regent of Banggai, Amirudin has abused his authority which ordered 24 sub-district heads to spend Rp5 billion from the APBD which is strongly indicated that there is a Rasua practice in it," he continued.

Ubay's statement was also confirmed by the report on the results of the examination (LHP) of the Central Sulawesi representative BPK found that the expenditure for goods and expenditure realization of Rp. 18.2 billion came from spending on goods in 15 sub-districts which became the focus.

"However, the picking test audit found that the expenditure of goods worth Rp2.18 billion did not match the actual conditions," he said.

Ubay asked the KPK to listen to the pressure. The people there are said to want this corruption case to be handled immediately.

"If this demand is not heeded then we will come with accumulating more times and a boycott of the KPK," he concluded.
