Haram Business At Twilight Age: 62 Years Old Man Arrested For Distribution Of Methamphetamine

PALANGKARAYA - A middle-aged man with the initials IL 62 years in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan was arrested by the Palangka Raya Police Narcotics Investigation Unit for distributing methamphetamine.

Head of the Palangka Raya Police Narcotics Investigation Unit AKP Agung Wijaya Kusuma, said the arrests were made on Wednesday (19/3/2025) at around 00.10 WIB at a barracks on Jalan Mendawai I Gang Bersama, Palangka Village, Jekan Raya District.

"This disclosure began with a public report regarding the existence of narcotics buying and selling activities at that location. The team then conducted an investigation and succeeded in securing the suspect along with a number of evidences," Agung said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 21.

The officer with the rank of three beams revealed that from the results of the search, officers found three packages of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 11.35 grams, a digital scale, a tablespoon of methamphetamine, a plastic clip, a black plastic sheet, a small black box, and a white Tecno Spark brand cellphone.

In addition, the police also confiscated Rp400 thousand in cash which was suspected of being the result of drug transactions and other people.

When questioned, the suspect admitted that all the evidence belonged to him.

"The current IL has also been charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) Sub-Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 20 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion," he said.

Agung added that his party is currently developing a case to uncover a wider network of narcotics trafficking.

"This arrest is part of our ongoing efforts to eradicate narcotics trafficking in Palangka Raya City," he explained.

Agung also appealed to the public to continue to play an active role in providing information, if they know of suspicious activities related to drugs.

"I hope that people in Palangka Raya can collaborate with the police to eradicate drug trafficking in our area, because drugs are very dangerous for human health," said Agung.
