The Manggala Police have arrested a worker named M Rais (29) who broke into a businessman's house from Papua by taking away 125 grams of gold in the safe of the victim's room, Toa Daeng Street, Manggala District, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

The perpetrator entered through the ceiling of the victim's house and pryed out a gold safe which weighed 125 grams and the loss was estimated at around 212 million," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Manggala Police, Iptu Iqmal, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 20.

Based on the CCTV footage obtained by the police, further investigation was carried out and moved quickly to find the whereabouts of the perpetrators until they were finally arrested in the early hours of Thursday with a number of evidence in two places each in Makassar City and Jeneponto Regency.

The perpetrator is an interior craftsman while working at the victim's house who is a contractor from Papua and is very aware of the condition of his house. Iqmal said, according to the information from the perpetrator he was in debt and had already been billed by a borrower, and was addicted to online gambling.
After being arrested, the perpetrator was taken to the Manggala Police Station to account for his actions.
The perpetrator is subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code related to theft and weighting with a penalty of five years in prison.
