Children Of KRI Nanggala-402 Crew Receives Full Scholarships From The Minister Of Defense

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto gave full scholarships to the children of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine crew who died in the waters north of Bali. Prabowo conveyed the assurance of giving this scholarship when he met the soldiers' families in Surabaya, East Java.

In addition to providing scholarships, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party also expressed his condolences to the families of the submarine crew who were declared dead on Sunday, April 25.

"To the family, Pak Prabowo conveyed his deepest condolences, and at the same time conveyed that he would provide a full scholarship," said Defense Minister spokesman Prabowo Subianto, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak in a video statement to reporters, Monday, April 26.

He explained that scholarships for all children of the submarine crew will be given from elementary school to university levels.

"Pak Prabowo fully supports the education of the sons and daughters of the nation's kusuma who died and we hope that they can continue their parents' aspirations of service," he said.

Previously reported, 53 crew members of the KRI Nanggala ship were confirmed to have died after the ship sank. The crew of this ship then received promotions and service stars as a form of respect from the state.

"The state will award a promotion to one level higher and Bintang Jasa Jalasena for the dedication and sacrifice of the best soldier," said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday, April 26.

Bintang Jasa Jalasena is a sign of honor given to members of the Indonesian Navy in the military field that shows extraordinary ability, wisdom and service beyond the call of duty without compromising their main duties.

Apart from giving promotions, the education of the 53 children of the KRI Nanggala-402 crew who died will also be guaranteed. "The government will also guarantee the education of the sons and daughters of the KRI Nanggala-402 judges to the undergraduate level," said Jokowi.
