Starting From A Hobby, Wahyu Kandacong Successfully Manages BMW's Towing Business

TANGERANG - Tangerang's automotive lover, Wahyu Kandacong (33), won a distribution towing tender for BMW cars in Indonesia. Wahyu's success in winning the tender made him the only local winner trusted by the German automotive brand.

The man who was born in 1992 revealed that his interest in the automotive world prompted him to take part in the tender. After going through various stages of selection and strict audits in Sunter, North Jakarta, his company managed to get an exclusive contract with BMW.

"So at that time we entered the tender, there were four big companies, and we are the only companies that have private towings that don't use sub-contracts to other people," he told the media crew, Wednesday, March 19, 2020.

"So the point is, when we win the tender, we also have the car, we no longer subscribe to other people," continued Wahyu.

As a form of seriousness in carrying out the contract, Wahyu's company invested heavily with a value of Rp. 16-18 billion for vehicles and infrastructure. Currently, his company has operated six towing units in Jabodetabek, two units in Eastern Indonesia, and two units in Sumatra.

"God willing, it will add more fleets because it has only been running for about three months. If we see that we still need a larger BMW delivery car or capacity, we will add more," said the man who has been in automotive since the age of 10.

It doesn't stop there, continued Wahyu, his company also offers additional services in the form of installing GPS trackers in each towing unit. This technology allows BMW dealers to track vehicle positions in real-time.

"So every unit can be checked live by the dealer. So the dealer can check the location, 'where is my car'," he said.

As a form of gratitude for his achievements, Wahyu is also committed to sharing with the surrounding community. He will expand the compensation program carried out every Monday to Friday by providing 50-100 food and food packages.

"Alhamdulillah, because we are a local company that is like a collapsed durian, I want to provide compensation for online motorcycle taxi friends in the Alam Sutera area, and I have also made a previous vow," he said.

Finally, Wahyu added, his company is optimistic that it can continue to grow and strengthen its position as a trusted partner for global automotive brands in Indonesia.
