KPK Agrees Prabowo To Create Corruptor Prisons On The Island, Johanis: If Necessary, You Don't Have To Give Food

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Johanis Tanak agreed that President Prabowo Subianto imprisoned corruptors on remote islands. The government even said that there was no need to feed them but it was enough to provide agricultural tools to survive.

"I agree if the president makes a prison on a remote and outermost island around Buru Island for all perpetrators of corruption," Johanis told VOI, Tuesday, March 18.

"The government does not need to provide food for them, it is enough to provide agricultural tools so that they can garden, grow crops in fields or in fields to meet their own needs of life which comes from their own sweat," he continued.

Tanak said this step could have a deterrent effect on the community. However, it must be accompanied by weighting of corporal punishment for perpetrators of corruption.

"In addition, the sentence of perpetrators of corruption (harus, ed) is increased by a minimum sentence of 10 years to a life sentence. I hope that, that way, people will have the fear to commit corruption," he said.

Prabowo expressed his wish when announcing the policy change in the distribution of regional ASN teacher allowances, at the Ministry of Education and Culture Office, Jakarta, Thursday, March 13. He wants to build prisons on remote islands for corruptors as an effort to prevent corruption.

"I will also set aside funds to build a very sturdy prison, in remote places, so that they cannot go out at night. We are looking for an island so if they want to go out, they can meet sharks," Prabowo said at the time.

According to Prabowo, corruption has only brought destruction to one country. "I will not back down against corruptors, they must understand that I am ready to die for the nation and people, I am not afraid of any mafia," said the former Minister of Defense (Menhan).
