Persija Wins Menpora Cup, Supporters Held Convoy Even Though Anies Warns Not To Crowd

JAKARTA - Supporters of Persija Jakarta gathered together on MH Thamrin Street towards the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout, Central Jakarta. The convoy was held to celebrate Persija's victory over the Menpora Cup.

Judging from their Instagram account in Jakarta, supporters packed a section of MH Thamrin Street, while unfurling banners and wearing various Persija attributes. Some of them are not wearing masks.

In fact, in his Instagram account, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has reminded the citizens of DKI not to celebrate Persija's victory by crowding around.

"I invite all of us to celebrate at home, don't flock out, don't crowd, because we have a risk of transmission during the pandemic," Anies said on Sunday, April 25 evening.

Anies admitted that he was grateful that Persija could win the Menpora Cup defeating Persib Bandung. He admitted to watching the match from the car.

"Alhamdulillah, we are grateful that Persija won the Menpora Persija trophy to make us even more proud of our favorite club to bring back victory for us, Jakarta," said Anies.

Persija Jakarta managed to win the Menpora Cup 2021 after beating Persib Bandung. In the second leg match at the Solo Manahan Stadium, Sunday, April 25, Persija beat Persib 2-1.

That way, the total aggregate of the two teams is 4-1. In the first leg which was held at Maguwoharjo Stadium, Persija won two goals without reply.

Sudirman troops played well from the start of the match. The attack of the Kemayoran Tigers repeatedly bothered Persib.

Persib's steps have gotten heavier since 23 minutes, after the accumulation of Bayu Fiqri's yellow cards for violating Marco Motta. Persija is getting freer.

The short ball game combined with the breakthrough that was demonstrated by Persib failed to be maximized. The first half finished with the score a goalless draw.

In the second half, Persija had no medicine. Osvaldo Haay scored a goal in the 50th minute. Persib raised the tempo of the attack after Persija's goal.
