Regarding The TNI Bill Ratified Before Recess, Dasco: Depending On The Dynamics Of The Discussion At Commission I Of The DPR

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said that the ratification of the revision of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army (RUU TNI) depends on the dynamics of the discussion at Commission I of the DPR.

Dasco said this in response to reports that the TNI Bill would be passed before the Eid recess.

"So if the revision of the TNI Law is discussed in Commission I. We haven't checked what the dynamics are, because the one who knows it is Commission I. It can be faster depending on the dynamics than on the discussion," said Dasco after reviewing Oilita at Kramat Jati Market, Jakarta, Friday, March 14.

Dasco said the DPR supports the amendment to the TNI Bill for the sake of the state. Moreover, this bill is an initiative of the DPR. He hopes that the discussion on the revision of the TNI Law will run smoothly.

"Yes, it's an initiative from the DPR, so yes, with the initiative to make a revision, of course the revision must run smoothly, with points that of course both know the points so that the main tasks of the TNI run smoothly," said the Gerindra legislator.

It is known that the Government is targeting the revision of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI (RUU TNI) to be completed before the DPR RI recess or before this year's Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri. Meanwhile, the DPR will enter a recess period starting Friday, March 21, next.

On Tuesday, March 12, the government submitted a script for the TNI Bill problem inventory list (DIM) as a reference. The DIM consists of points for the formulation of changes to the TNI Law proposed by the government.

Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin ensured that the TNI Bill would not use the article on the prohibition of all members of the TNI from doing business.

"(The ban on TNI members doing business) is not included in the articles discussed," said Sjafrie at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, March 12.
