JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan stated that the promotion of Teddy Indra Wijaya from Major to Lieutenant Colonel (Letkol) did not violate the rules. Although, many parties highlight that the karana is considered too fast

"I convey that the promotion of the Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) brother Lt. Col. Infantry Teddy Indra Wijaya has gone through a mechanism that applies in the TNI. No one violates it," said Budi Gunawan to reporters, Thursday, March 13.

Referring to the statement by the Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, Budi Gunawan said that the promotion received by Teddy was a form of appreciation for the performance and dedication in carrying out their duties. Moreover, this matter is the authority of the TNI Commander.

"This decision is a form of performance appreciation for the dedication and capacity of the Cabinet in carrying out state duties and is the full responsibility of the TNI Commander," he said.

In addition, Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya also does not have to resign as a TNI soldier. This is because there have been changes in the Organizational and Work Procedure Structure (SOTK) which states that Seskab is in the Presidential Military Secretariat.

"This includes in Seskab like that, so no one violates it because the rules have changed everything," said Budi Gunawan.

Previously, TNI Commander General Agus Subianto ensured that active soldiers who now serve in other agencies and institutions must retire early or resign.

"So, active TNI soldiers who serve in other ministries/agencies will retire early or resign from active service, in accordance with Article 47," said TNI General Agus.

Article 47 paragraph (2) of the TNI Law regulates regulations if TNI members occupy civilian positions.

However, Agus did not mention who the active TNI members are currently having to retire or resign because they carry out civilian positions. The community highlighted several active TNI officials who held strategic positions in the civilian realm.

Several TNI officials who became the public's attention were Lt. Col. Inf. Teddy Indra Wijaya who served as Cabinet Secretary. Previously, Teddy held the position still with the rank of major.

Later, Teddy got a promotion from the TNI Commander to Lieutenant Colonel.
