JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian asked local governments (Pemda) to immediately try to clean their territory from visual waste such as banners, pamphlets, billboards and so on.

Tito while attending the 2025 Development Planning Technical Coordination Meeting (Rakortekrenbang) which was held online, from Jakarta, Wednesday, said the request was in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's government program.

"The program he (President) also asked for is to emphasize waste, waste management, clean cities," Tito said in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 12, as reported by ANTARA.

Tito explained that the President assessed that the cleaning of areas from visual waste was necessary because abroad there was nothing like that.

"We all have banners, then pamphlets, all kinds, (such as) in Bali, the Puncak tourist area, Bogor, everywhere he (the president) said it was very, very disturbing to aesthetics. Now just clean it up," he said.

According to the Minister of Home Affairs, local governments can make certain points as banners, and the like, so that the area becomes neat.

"Well, we will move later. Please colleagues, the problem of city cleanliness, and also the banners, billboards, he (President) asked for it," he said.

Therefore, the Minister of Home Affairs asked the regional secretary or regional government representatives who participated in the 2025 Coordination Meeting to be able to convey the request to their respective regional heads.

"Later on, we will also zoom (Zoom Meeting) teleconference weekly. I say, regional head, he (President) asked to be cleaned, our cities must be neat," he said.
