Army Chief Of Staff: Seskab Teddy Deserves An Increase In Ranks

JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak said Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya deserved an promotion to become a lieutenant colonel because he contributed to assisting President Prabowo Subianto's work.

"That is the authority of the TNI Commander and I. There is someone who is considered capable of assisting the President and coordinating his duties well, then given promotions. What is the problem?" Maruli said in a press release reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 12.

Maruli assessed that Teddy's achievements in the military and government deserve appreciation for promotion.

Not only to Teddy, Maruli emphasized that the opportunity to get a promotion is also open to all soldiers who want to provide the best performance and sacrifice for the nation.

Maruli himself understands that many people think that the promotion received by Teddy is the result of intervention by other parties. Maruli also categorically denied this.

"So that is our authority (TNI Commander and Army Chief of Staff) not to continue to intervene. We work professionally, if it has been decided, we will participate (implement the decision)," said Maruli.

Previously, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto raised the rank of Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya from major to lieutenant colonel (letkol).

Head of the Indonesian Army Information Service Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana when confirmed by ANTARA, Thursday (6/3) confirmed this.

"I convey to my media colleagues that the information is correct and it is in accordance with the provisions that apply in the TNI and the basis of the legislation (perpres), administratively everything has also been fulfilled," Wahyu said in his short message.

The appointment of Teddy is stated in the Order Number Sprin/674/II/2025 which has been confirmed by Wahyu.

In the warrant, there were five points that became the basis for Teddy's promotion.

Here are the five basic points:

1. Regulation of the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces Number 53 of 2017 concerning the Use of Indonesian National Army Soldiers.

2. Regulation of the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces Number 87 of 2022 concerning the Third Amendment to the Regulation of the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces Number 50 of 2015 concerning the Ranks of Indonesian National Armed Forces Soldiers.

3. The decision of the TNI Commander Number Kep/238/II/2025 dated February 25, 2025 concerning the Determination of the Increase in the General Rank of Acceleration (KPRP) from Major Teddy to Lt. Col. a.n Major Inf Teddy Indra Wijaya, SSTHan.,M.Si. NRP110010020489, Cabinet Secretary.

4. Army Chief of Staff Regulation Number 21 of 2019 concerning the Ranks of Indonesian National Army Soldiers.

5. The decision of the Army Chief of Staff number Kep/462/VIII/2021 dated August 4, 2021 concerning Technical Guidelines for the Development of Careers of Indonesian Army Officers, and

6. Consideration of Army Leadership.
