West Jakarta City Government Urges PT KAI To Close Access To Gang Royal, Illegal Prostitution Center Near Railroad

The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) has urged PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to take firm action regarding the rampant practice of illegal prostitution operating in Gang Royal, Tambora.

This request was submitted so that the location could be permanently closed and no longer be used for negative activities.

According to the Head of the West Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Kasatpol PP), Agus Irwanto, PT KAI as the owner of the asset needs to take concrete steps by doing massive fencing or even building a sturdy concrete wall so that the area cannot be accessed by the public.

"We expect from the asset owner to be able to carry out massive fences or concrete walls that are more visible, so that people cannot use them to pass or use negative things," said Agus after controlling prostitutes in West Jakarta on Tuesday, March 11 evening.

Agus emphasized that the buildings where commercial sex workers (CSWs) operate are indeed crowded with railroads. Therefore, the permanent closure is considered the most effective solution to stop these illegal activities.

The West Jakarta City Government hopes that PT KAI can immediately follow up on this request in order to maintain security and order in the area. Until now, there has been no official response from PT KAI regarding the request for permanent refreshment.
