SUKABUMI The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has completed data collection on damage to houses to infrastructure due to floods and landslides in Sukabumi Regency, West Java.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a statement in Jakarta, Sunday, March 9, said that the number of houses damaged by this disaster reached hundreds of units with moderate to severe damage scale.
BNPB confirmed data from a rapid reaction team in the field that found 150 houses lightly damaged, 110 housing units moderately damaged, and 95 housing units severely damaged.
In addition to damage to houses, a number of infrastructures were also affected. BNPB noted that three bridge units suffered moderate damage, three bridge units were heavily damaged, one health facility was moderately damaged, and 27 road points and 16 other bridge connecting between villages were also affected.
"As a step to accelerate disaster management in Sukabumi Regency, the local PUPR Service has lowered heavy equipment," said Abdul Muhari.
BNPB together with related ministries and the Sukabumi Regency Government have activated three emergency posts to support the acceleration of emergency response and disaster recovery efforts. The main command post was established in the Sukabumi Regency Government Hall, while the field post is located at the Ratu Port and the logistics post is at the Sukabumi Regency BPBD Office.
Logistical assistance that is currently an urgent need for refugees includes supplies of ready-to-eat food, mineral water, blankets, mattresses, cleaning equipment, and hygiene kits for residents who are still evacuating independently.
Currently, BNPB stated that the floods that had submerged dozens of villages in 22 sub-districts had receded. However, for landslides, based on the results of coordination meetings with cross-sectoral parties, the Sukabumi Regency Government has determined three sub-districts that are still in an emergency response period, namely Pelabuhan Ratu District, Simpenan District, and Lengkong District.
"Then there were five victims who died and four were reported missing in search by the joint SAR team," he added.
The government and various parties continue to accelerate the handling and recovery of post-disasters in order to help affected communities return to normal activities.
