Manager Arrested In Jagorawi Toll Rest Area For Embezzlement Of Hundreds Of Millions

JAKARTA - A Purchasing manager with the initials QA (39) was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Abang Metro Police for embezzlement. The suspect was arrested at the KM 45 Rest Area of the Jagorawi Toll Road, Bogor, West Java, Sunday, March 9.

Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, AKBP Aditya Sembiring said the arrest of the perpetrator began with a police report at the Tanah Abang Police Headquarters.

The suspect with the initials QA works as a Purchasing Manager at CV Better than Citra. The suspect was assigned to buy 70 AC units for FTL Gym (Jakarta - Bandung) with a budget of IDR 508 million.

However, the suspect actually falsified three invoices for buying AC on behalf of PT SJ-Indonesia and directed the payment to BCA's account on behalf of his wife with the initials AT.

After the company transferred money, the perpetrator only bought 20 units of AC worth Rp 146 million for FTL Gym Pasir Koja, while the remaining Rp 362.45 million was taken away.

"After receiving the funds, the perpetrator fled and had moved to his place of residence. The proceeds of the crime were used for personal needs," said AKBP Aditya when confirmed.

Suspect QA was arrested after being followed by police from the Cikupa area, Tangerang. Then the perpetrator was arrested at the KM 45 Rest Area of the Jagorawi Toll Road.

Meanwhile, the evidence that was secured was in the form of an AC order letter from CV Better than Citra to PT SJ-Indonesia, an Invoice for the purchase of air conditioning from PT SJ-Indonesia (expectedly fake). A statement letter from PT SJ-Indonesia with a BCA account on behalf of AT.

"Mutasi rekening BCA nomor 3010330130 atas nama CV Lebih Baik Dari Citra. Surat Perjanjian Kerja antara PT Lebih Cepat Dari Cahaya dengan QA dan Slip salary dan CV atas nama QA," ujarnya.

As a result of his actions, the suspect with the initials QA was charged with Article 374 of the Criminal Code regarding embezzlement in office, with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.

"We remind the company to be more careful about potential crimes from insiders. If they find indications of violations of the law, immediately report them to the authorities," he said.
