Member Of The House Of Representatives Commission I: Anyone Who Preaches Without Social Media, Will Become Historical Fossils

JAKARTA - The role of social media must be applied to all elements, including in preaching. Member of the Indonesian Parliament from Commission I, Helmy Faishal, emphasized that social media is a necessity and a necessity, including in preaching to religious leaders and community organizations.

"Those who do not use social media as a platform for their preaching, then get ready to become a historical fossil, even various surveys have shown that more than half of Indonesia's population each year continues to grow very significantly, that they are all connected to gadgets, so start from waking up to going back to bedtime, "he said in a streaming discussion entitled 'Ramadan Blessing, Wise Social Media which was held by Kominfo with DPR-RI, Friday, April 23.

According to him, today's people have been in contact with gadgets for most of the day. Based on the survey, more than 6 hours a day or even more than 8-9 hours people use social media.

"There must be a counter-narrative, we must also present a positive narrative in the midst of society, so that people do not turn information like hoaxes, slander as truth, then literacy is needed in social media, which is expected to be present from all developing circles. a collective awareness, that the responsibility to build a positive sense in social media is a shared responsibility, "he stressed.

On the same occasion, Taufik Damas, as a young preacher who has been delivering his preaching through social media, emphasized that social media both on Facebook, both on Instagram and on Twitter, can be said to be a gift. But according to him, if the gift is mismanaged, it can be a disaster.

"Even without social media, that person may speak through media such as demonstrations, create a free stage and so on, plus there is social media, which is actually something that makes that person more open and more courageous." he explained.

Furthermore, preaching through social media can read people's minds and their character. Because that person can seem like a quiet person when he meets him, but on social media he is actually able to open up and spill his thoughts more easily.

"Alhamdulillah, until now we are still a strong nation where there is no bloody conflict among the nation's children, even though the narrative is still developing on social media, we must fight against it if there are narratives that tend to divide the nation we must fight," he explained. Taufik.
