JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of Mecca, Prince of Saud bin Moshaal bin Abdulaziz recently inaugurated the Holy Qur'an Museum in Hira Cultural District, Mecca.

Developed under scrutiny and with the support of the Royal Commission for the City of Mecca and Holy Places, this museum highlights the Qur'an as the main source of instructions for Muslims.

Quoted from Arab News March 6, this museum is designed to enrich religious and cultural experiences for local residents and visitors.

The Holy Qur'an Museum stores rare manuscripts, historical copies of the Qur'an, and interactive displays that allow visitors to explore the transcription of the Qur'an and its preservation throughout history, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reports.

With an area of about 67,000 square meters, Hira Cultural District is a focal point for those who want to feel the spirit and history of Mecca.

This museum has various facilities designed to improve religious and educational experiences. For example, Diorama Wahyu, which offers an interactive depiction of the revelations, and other diorama that allow visitors to climb to the Hira Cave, which is a place where revelations come down.

Among the artifacts exhibited are a photocopy of the Al-Qur'an Khalifah Utsman bin Affan and several ancient stone inscriptions containing verses of the Qur'an.

Quoted from Himpuh, Hira Cultural District is a new religious tourist destination, located strategically near King Faisal Road.

The project also includes the Saudi Coffee Museum, Cultural Library, and Hira Park. The Hira Cultural District is supervised by the Royal Commission for the City of Makkah and the Holy Place, in collaboration with the Makkah Emirate, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Mayor of Makkah.

The Al-Qur'an Museum will remain open throughout the month of Ramadan.
