The Case Of Bribery And Opportunities Of Hasto Investigation Will Soon Be Tried

The prosecutor at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) handed over the indictment and case files of alleged interim replacement bribery (PAW) members of the DPR and the obstruction of the investigation that dragged the Secretary General of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto to the Jakarta Corruption Court today,

"It has been received by the clerk, it has been recorded that it is just waiting for the next process," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, March 7.

Setyo denied that his party was in a hurry to sue Hasto. He ensured that the investigation into the alleged bribery and obstruction of the investigation had been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.

"If it's a quick problem, maybe people say the term is fast, some are being chased slowly, some are waiting, no. Everything has gone through the stage process and is considered finished," said the former Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

Moreover, the KPK still has arrears to resolve the case files for other suspects in the PAW bribery case for members of the DPR RI, namely Donny Tri Istiqomah, who is a lawyer from PDIP. "Therefore, this (hasto case, ed) was resolved and the next focus was preparation for other suspects," explained Setyo.

Meanwhile, Hasto's attorney, Johanes Tobing, said that his party was ready to face the trial. He conveyed this when he took the case file from the KPK office.

"Ready, (as legal advisor, red) ready (to face trial, ed)," he said.

Johanes said the trial might be held next week. The mitigating witness is likely to be presented at the court.

"We are preparing (an mitigating witness, ed)," said the lawyer.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
