DENPASAR - Bali Maritime and Fisheries Service (DKP) ensures that the sea barrier buoy on Serangan Island is fully revoked for the sake of accessing fishermen.

"Yes, I make sure, I checked earlier to measure the length of 20 meters," said Head of the Bali Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service Putu Sumardiana in Denpasar, Thursday, March 6.

It is known that since 2018, PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID) as the manager of the Bali Turtle Special Economic Zone (KEK) on Serang Island installed buoys that prevented small fishing boats from entering, instead local fishermen could lure from the edge and use the identity regulated by the manager.

This condition only surfaced after residents complained about having difficulty accessing, so the local government began to communicate with investors considering that what investors have is land, not sea.

"Today it was agreed to complete everything, last Monday only partially released, today the buoys have all been removed, earlier at 2 pm they have been revoked," said the Head of the Bali Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service.

In exchange, Sumardiana asked fishermen to understand the risk of danger there, where there is a trough with a water depth of 8 meters which is generally not understood by the people outside Serangan Village.

In addition, the Bali Kura-Perus SEZ immediately processed international minerals, so it would be dangerous if many people entered the construction area.

The Bali Provincial Government and PT BTID then installed a marker buoy and an information board at the entrance as wide as 100 meters, because it was not possible to take full 24 hours of guard.

"Later there will be education to the public that this location is deep enough because there is a trough, so for the safety of fishermen," said Sumardiana.

Head of Communication of PT BTID Zakki Hakim added that they were actually still confused because so far communication with community groups who are part of 13 fishing groups and represent around 400 fishermen on the coast, high seas, coral reefs, and seaweed is fine.

They have recorded that since the sea barrier was installed, less than 10 fishermen have continued to look for fish but with their permission.

Finally, after a week of being released, anglers from outside Serangan Village began to arrive so that education and important warning signs were installed.

"Yesterday we saw that when the news was that the buoy would be released directly, there were anglers from Gianyar and Denpasar who rented a boat to fish, all the fishing went down to the water, all had to be told that it had to be educated and the importance of installing signs of this warning was a dangerous area," said Zakki.

The Bali Kura-kura SEZ manager also asked the local government to provide education to tourism elements, because the manager saw a number of jetskis starting to pass in areas whose designation was only for small fishermen.
