JAKARTA - The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to revoke the temporary legal status of around 240,000 Ukrainians fleeing the conflict with Russia.

This was conveyed by a senior Trump official and three sources familiar with the matter.

Trump's latest plan has the potential to place exodus Ukrainians to be deported.

The move, which is expected to take in April, will be the opposite of the remarks received by Ukrainians under President Joe Biden's administration.

Plans to cancel protection for Ukrainians were underway before Trump publicly clashed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week.

This is part of a wider effort by the Trump administration to revoke legal status of more than 1.8 million migrants allowed into the US based on the temporary humanitarian parole program launched under the Biden administration, the source said.

US Department of Homeland Security spokesman! McLaughlin said it had not issued an announcement at this time.

Meanwhile, the White House and the Ukrainian embassy did not respond to a response request.

Trump's executive order issued on January 20 called on DHS to "stop all categorical parole programs."

The government plans to lift parole for some 530,000 Cubans, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuelans this month, Trump officials and one of the sources familiar with the matter said.

The plan to repeal parole for citizens was first reported by CBS News.

Migrants who have revoked their parole status can face a fast path deportation process, according to ICE's internal email seen by Reuters.

Immigrants crossing the border illegally can be included in a fast path deportation process known as the extended removal, for two years after they enter. But for those who enter through official entrances without being officially "accepted" in the US as such as those conditionally there is no time limit for their rapid elimination, the email said.

Program Biden adalah bagian dari upaya yang lebih luas untuk menciptakan jalur hukum sementara guna mencegah immigration ilegal dan memberikan bantuan kemanusiaan.

In addition to the 240,000 Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion, and the 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaragua, and Venezuelans, these programs include more than 70,000 Afghans fleeing the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban.

An additional 1 million migrants have scheduled time to cross over at the legitimate border through an application known as CBP One.

Thousands of other people have access to smaller programs, including the parole of family reunification for certain people in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Trump as a candidate pledged to end Biden's program, saying the program exceeded US legal limits.

The Trump administration last month suspended processing of immigration-related applications for people entering the US under Biden's specific parole program, leaving Liana Avetisian, her husband and 14-year-old daughter from Ukraine at uncertainty.

Avetisian, who works in real estate in Ukraine, is now assembling windows, while her husband works in the construction sector.

The family left Kyiv in May 2023, finally bought a house in the small town of DeWitt, Iowa.

Their conditional release and work permit expire in May.

They spent about $4.000 on the cost of filing for a parole extension and tried to submit another program known as Temporary Protection Status.

"Avetisian is starting to have headaches because he is worried about their situation," he said.

"We don't know what to do," he said.
