TANGERANG - A man with the initials J was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) on suspicion of distributing liquid Etomade drugs. The liquid is known to have been put in an electric cigarette tube (Catridge Vape) to trick the officers.
Soetta Airport Police Chief, Kombes Ronald Fredy Christian Sipayung, revealed that the arrest took place on Sunday, February 16, at around 23.15 WIB.
This may be a new type of drug in the form of liquid and used by vape users. Etomade itself has a hemodynamic effect that affects blood flow and causes hallucinatory effects and 'fly' sensations," Ronald explained during a press conference at the Soetta Airport Police, Wednesday, March 5.
Chronology Of Arrest
This case was revealed when J had just arrived at Soetta Airport from Bangkok, Thailand, on February 16. During a baggage check by Customs officers, 46 cartridges containing Etomade drug liquid were found. Officers immediately coordinated with the Soetta Airport Police Narcotics Unit to conduct further investigations.
The items were found in the suspect's suitcase which was carried along with his trunk on the plane. After laboratory testing, the content in the 46 bottles of cartridges was confirmed to contain Etomade, "said Ronald.

"The suspect plans to sell each cartridge for Rp. 4 million. This is a new mode of narcotics trafficking that needs to be watched out for," added Ronald.
Currently, J has been named a suspect and charged with Article 435 subsidiary Article 436 paragraph 2 of Law Number 27 of 2023 concerning Health. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
Kasat Resnarkoba Soetta Airport Police, AKP Michael, emphasized that the use of Etomade should be under the supervision of a doctor. "Etomade has been classified as Narcotics Category 2, but the punishment is not too heavy. Therefore, we use the Health Law in this case. The use must be with a doctor's prescription," concluded Michael.
