JAKARTA - The United Nations Agency for Assistance and Work for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) said nearly 260,000 children from the Gaza Strip, Palestine have signed up for a distance learning program since last January.

In his post on social media X Tuesday UNRWA wrote, "nearly 260,000 children have registered in UNRWA's long-distance learning program since January," quoted from WAFA March 4.

The aid agency further said, "UNRWA's health team continues to provide mental and psychosocial health support in the Middle and Khan Younis regions."

UNRWA insists it "helps special cases referred from health centers and shelters."

It said, "since the ceasefire, the UNRWA team has responded to more than 15,000 cases," allowing thousands of displaced people to return to their residential areas and destroyed homes.

On February 23, the new school year began in the Gaza Strip amid major challenges caused by the genocide war launched by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

It is known that about 95 percent of school buildings and education have suffered various damages, while 85 percent of them cannot be used anymore due to total or partial damage during the months caused by Israeli genocide.
